The annual highlight of the motorcycle industry in China and worldwide—the 19th China International Motorcycle Expo (hereinafter referred to as China Moto Expo)—was held from September 17 to 20, 2021, at the Chongqing International Expo Center.
As an important platform for launching new products in the industry, the China Motorcycle Expo is leading market trends toward personalization and entertainment. Building on its showcase of traditional gasoline-powered motorcycles and components, the expo continuously enriches the depth of motorcycle culture exhibits, innovates exhibition formats, and optimizes the visitor experience. It also consistently incorporates electric motorcycle products that represent future development directions—such as green energy efficiency, environmental protection, and cutting-edge technology—fully demonstrating China’s globally leading expertise and capabilities in electric motorcycle manufacturing. This not only enhances the value-added benefits for exhibiting companies but also positions the expo as a premier hub for the global motorcycle industry.
This year’s China Motorcycle Expo has undergone a comprehensive upgrade, building a systematic industrial chain that integrates exhibitions, conferences, competitions, performances, and cultural-tourism ecosystems, thereby showcasing the creativity and value of motorcycles. As the only nationally recognized motorcycle trade show approved by the State Council, the China Motorcycle Expo has become the largest annual motorcycle trade show in China—and indeed, globally. This year’s expo is not only a Mid-Autumn Festival feast where motorcycle enthusiasts from across the country can exchange ideas, learn from one another, and feel right at home, but also a major platform for brands from all over China and around the world to unveil their latest products. In Zhejiang, brands like Qianjiang, Chunfeng, Benda, and Tai Rong are making their mark; in Guangdong, brands such as Dayun, Haojin, Haojue, Honda, and Xiangshuai are leading the charge; and from Chongqing itself, local manufacturers including Zongshen, Lifan, Loncin, Gaojin, Jialing, and Kaiyue are all flourishing, with an endless stream of new large-displacement models hitting the market. Meanwhile, international brands like Harley-Davidson, BMW, Kawasaki, Benelli, Indian, and Ducati continue to inspire awe with their exorbitantly high prices. The key features of this year’s expo include large-displacement bikes, retro styles, and smart technology. Several domestic motorcycle companies have already introduced large-displacement models, and their costs are highly competitive. Another notable trend is the steady growth of the electric vehicle segment—many brands have already launched electric racing bikes, signaling a promising direction for newcomers entering the motorcycle industry with lower barriers to entry. As a globally influential brand exhibition, the China Motorcycle Expo reflects the current state-of-the-art capabilities of Chinese motorcycle enterprises, fuels the vigorous development of Chinese motorcycle culture, and sets the course for the future of China’s motorcycle industry. It will continue to make significant contributions to steering the global motorcycle industry forward.
